Difference between Seamless and Welded Stainless Steel Pipes:

 304 Seamless Stainless Steel Pipes are made from a round steel “billet” which when heated or pushed or pulled, forms a hollow tube like shape.

To manufacture welded stainless steel pipes, coils are necessary.




Difference between seamless and welded stainless steel pipes:

Welded pipes are manufactured by rolling metal and then welding it across its length. Whereas, seamless pipes are manufactured with the help of solid round billets. During the production of seamless pipes, the dimensional and wall thickness specifications are kept in mind. A seamless pipe is a pipe without a seam or a weld joint. It is like an empty hole cross area, without any creases around the circle, or rectangular steel. These pipes have a better weight limit, also known as pressure capacity. 

Applications of seamless pipes: high pressure areas, like hydrocarbon industry and refineries, oil and gas drilling, oil and gas transportation, air and hydraulic cylinders, bearings, boilers, and automobiles.

Welded pipes are welded longitudinally. They are manufactured from coil. Welded pipes are cold formed from a ribbon of steel which is pulled through a series of rollers, and the tube is formed, which is then fused through an electric charge. In a welded pipe, the weld joint is the comparatively weaker part of the pipe, which limits the quality of the pipe to the quality of the joint. The process of creating these pipes is basic, and requires less gear and capital.

Applications of welded pipes: these pipes are mainly used for low or medium pressure applications like transport of oil or water.
